Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum

Stirling

The Stirling Smith was founded in 1874 from the bequest of Thomas Stuart Smith, and has a fine collection of Scottish painting, as well as a collection of artefacts illustrating the story of Stirling. These include the worlds oldest football and curling stone, the Stirling Jug of 1457, and artefacts illustrating the story of Wallace and Bruce. At the crossroads of Scotland's geography and history, the town is often described as "the brooch which clasps the Highlands and the Lowlands together". The Smith is a good place from which to explore the rest of Stirling.
