Arnol Blackhouse (HS)
Isle of Lewis
This traditional Lewis thatched house is fully furnished, and complete with attached barn, byre and stackyard. A peat fire burns in the open hearth, with smoke filtering out through the roof.
Nearby a furnished 1920s croft-house is open to view. There is a new visitor centre with displays on crofting and the construction of blackhouses.
