A vast expanse of peat bog with a mosaic of small pools and lochans, the area is internationally important for its wildlife. Breeding birds include golden plovers, dunlins, merlins and hen harriers. The visitor centre at Forsinard railway station provides a good introduction to the reserve with CCTV cameras guaranteeing close-up views of wildlife. A mile long trail allows access out among the bog pools. Guided walks programme.
