Handa Island Wildlife Reserve (SWT)

Handa Island, By Scourie

Visitors to the island will be met by staff or volunteers of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, who will give you a short introductory talk in the visitor shelter. Visitors then guide themselves around the 6km trail. Each summer some 100,000 seabirds gather here to breed, including guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and small numbers of puffins on the cliffs. Arctic and great skuas nest on the moor, some very close to the trail. From the clifftop look out to sea, where dolphins, porpoises and minke whales are often seen.
