Sula Sgeir National Nature Reserve (SNH)
This isolated rocky island has large numbers of breeding gannets and other seabirds. Each August the men of Ness come over from Lewis to 'harvest' the gugas - plump young gannets. Some 2,000 birds are killed then salted down. On Lewis gugas are considered a great delicacy.
