The Kingdom of Fife needs no introduction when it comes to the game of golf. This area holds a unique position in the annals of the game with St Andrews, the Old Course and the Royal and Ancient clubhouse at its symbolic heart.


Water-skiing and kite-surfing are all on offer – and with a well-known motor-racing circuit, plus off-road activity providers, Fife has plenty of motorised activity as well.

Fife is great cycling terrain, with a network of rural roads, especially in the Howe of Fife, as well as old railway trackbeds and forestry tracks all increasing the choice.

Horse Riding

See another side of Fife trekking or hacking on sheltered forest rides and farmland trails. Feel the salt spray as you gallop through the shallows of a mile-long beach.

The superb Fife Coastal Path along the southern coast links North Queensferry with Crail. Inland, the twin Lomond Hills are popular. Between sea and hills, there are lots of local walks as well.

Fishing »

Fife has a long tradition of sea fishing, especially for cod that come close inshore during the winter months. Game fishing is not neglected however and there are many good trout fishing opportunities and even the chance of a salmon in the River Eden.
